The first documented Catholic Mass in the Philippines was celebrated in Limasawa, Leyte on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1521 by Fr. Pedro de Valderrama of Ferdinand Magellan's expedition. This marked the beginning of Christianity in the Philippines.
